There are a few reasons you may not want to get your teeth whitened:
If you have large areas of visible tooth decay or chips in your enamel on the whitening surfaces we can not whiten your teeth until those are treated by your dentist. Putting whitening gel on those areas will lead to severe pain.
If you have crowns or fillings on any of the teeth that we are whitening they do not whiten the same as your natural tooth structure. If those restorations have stained over time we can remove the stain but we can not whiten past the original color of the restoration when it was placed by your dentist.
There have been no studies done with pregnant/breastfeeding women. We do not recommend teeth whitening for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
If you are currently in braces we recommend to wait until your ortho comes off to have your teeth whitened. If you are in Invisalign we are able to whiten your teeth!
If you have severe untreated gum disease. Whitening will make your teeth appear whiter but you need to get your gum disease under control to ensure the long term health of your teeth and to prevent prematurely losing your teeth. White teeth are no good if you lose them early.
If you have very heavy tartar build up along the gum lines that is clearly visible. We can still whiten your teeth but just be aware that we can not whiten through build up so the tooth surface underneath will not brighten but the tartar will lighten and usually becomes more noticeable. It is a good idea to have a cleaning before whitening if you are prone to heavy build up, to ensure you are getting the best results.
If you have an active cold sore we will not whiten your teeth until it is completely healed due to the high risk of spreading the infection while working in your mouth.
If you have epilepsy we can still whiten your teeth but unfortunately we can ont use the LED light during your treatment to avoid epileptic episodes.
If you are currently using a retinol cream we can still whiten your teeth but we take extra precautions to ensure your skin is protected due to retinol being a photosensitive cream which can interact with the LED light that we use.

How do I prepare for my appointment?
Make sure you eat before you come and wear comfy clothing so you can fully relax!
Use a sensitivity toothpaste for 1-2 weeks before your appointment if you think it is necessary. Our gels are made to minimize sensitivity. Most of our clients experience very minimal to zero sensitivity.
Floss well before your appointment.

At Luxe we offer a spa like atmostphere with spa music, eucalyptus scents and a full body massage chair for you to enjoy while we whiten your teeth. Before we start your appointment I have you fill out consent forms. After that you will brush your teeth and then we check what shade you are starting at. The mouth retractor is placed and a barrier is applied to your gums to protect the gums from the whitening gel. We then apply the whitening gel and the accelerator light. After 15 minutes we remove the gel and apply a new layer. The accelerator light goes back on for another 15 minutes. After that we remove the gel and barrier and have you get up to rinse at the sink. Next you get to see your brand new smile and we see what shade you ended at. It is as simple as that!

Our gels are 100% safe for the enamel and for any dental work you have had done (fillings, bridges, crowns, etc.)
-
We use a high quality gel that is designed to limit tooth sensitivity. Most people do not experience sensitivity with our products and process but it is a possibility.
Following the whitening treatment we use a remineralizing and desensitizing gel. This gel revitalizes the enamel and helps alleviate sensitivity while locking in the whitening results!
If you do happen to experience some sensitivity during or after your treatment - this is completely normal and should subside with in 24 hours. Whitening does not cause long term sensitivity to hot/cold beverages and sweets. Using a sensitivity toothpaste can help if needed.
If you are still nervous about experiencing sensitivity from teeth whitening we recommend using a sensitivity toothpaste for 1 week leading up to your appointment and avoiding cold foods/drinks for 24 hours after your treatment.

Your refresh appointment will lift any staining that has accumulated since your last whitening session.
